roadway, hoping to send the president a very clear message. thank you so much for joining us here on kron for news 3, i'm justine waltman today the president attended to silicon valley fundraisers looking for donations for his reelection campaign are charles clifford has details. >> on friday the president attended multiple fundraisers and he was greeted by around 12, 15 on friday. the president's motorcade arrived here in portola valley along alpine road at the home of the not coast la. he was greeted by several dozen protesters who are unhappy about the conflict in gaza between israel and hamas. and they say they came out today to send a message to the president. >> and we want him to know that we do not support the genocide is happening right now. and we want the donors to know that we hope that they would fund other things besides a war and the sides genocide. and so we're here today to just make sure he knows that people are unhappy about this genocide in palestine. after the president left the fundraiser in portola valley, he was scheduled to travel to nearby palo alto. >> to a second fundraiser at

military spokesperson says israel has enough weapons on hand to proceed with its plan to go after hamas in rafah. the united nation's general assembly has adopted a resolution in support of palestinian statehood. this move would grant palestine full member status in the u n the resolution approved earlier today by a vote of one. 43 to 9. 25 nations abstained from voting. the u.s. voted no u.s. officials believe palestinian statehood should be negotiated between israeli and palestinians. the move would allow palestine access to international aid and support participation in global decision-making and the ability to contribute and shape international law and policy. now uc berkeley's law school graduation was held today while there was still a pro-palestine encampment on campus. the commencement taking place at the greek theater, bald demonstrators stayed its the event is coming as many colleges are having to

time when the system needs more public funding. you're right. as as we look to potentially ask the voters for money, we have to work. we have to be there for our riders. service was restored around noon. >> at the north berkeley bart station, theresa is stasio kron. 4 news. oakland international airport has a new name commissioners unanimously approved to rebrand it to san francisco bay, oakland international airport. >> now this new name has been getting pushback from the city of san francisco. and now there's a legal battle under way. san francisco city attorney david chiu has already sued on behalf of the city and even sent a letter yesterday urging the port board to have both cities work together to come up with a whole different name. the oakland port instead moved ahead with its plans and says it will be responding to the lawsuit with its own lawsuit. we talked to a couple of different travelers today at oakland airport and they say yeah, this new name change is confusing.

the coast. that's the difference today. we have a we did have the relay earlier and that cool things off. but now we're seeing a change in the wind pattern. >> we we had a lot of that offshore flow going on. that's what's been warming us up, especially inland and even places like san francisco. but now changing here toward it or sea breeze where we typically get that cool. temperatures. so here is a ridge of high pressure that will eventually weekend during this weekend. so you could we have hot inland temperatures and then cloudy. start to your mornings. it's cloudy here at half moon bay. and it's also in the upper 50's. but later on, you could see that will be forming towards a sonoma county and then overnight. so you'll have that fog back here and places like san francisco along the peninsula and even places around berkeley and oakland tomorrow that will stick around by the coast but will be mostly sunny across the bay and our inland communities for saturday and

new effort underway to address abuse and harassment in san francisco's political sector. more than a dozen people stepping up to the microphone last week in a special meeting. >> organized by the san francisco democratic party. this is coming after recent allegations against prominent figures in local politics. survivors of harassment share their experiences with party leaders. and i spoke with nancy tung, the chair of the san francisco democratic party who says this is long overdue. the idea originally was floated back in 2021. >> and the party that time did not but this is something that i was very supportive of. what s wpc first came us and given

major fire at a commercial building. this was about 2 o'clock this morning on moment. drive in fremont. the fire department shared these photos. they say when they got there, the fire was going through the roof. they did not get out. and about an hour, crews stayed around to monitor for hotspots. we do understand no one was hurt. now one person is in critical condition after getting shot near lake merritt, oakland police found that victim on grand avenue not far away from the mic already found. this was yesterday the person was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. police say the victim got into a verbal dispute with another person right before the shooting. this is though, still an ongoing investigation. anyone with information should contact oakland police. police officers uncovered any legal bird fighting ring and more than $20,000 in stolen property at a house in santa rosa. police say in march $22,000 worth of items was stolen during a storage burglary. officers arrested

the 70's in san francisco and oakland, san jose, upper 80's livermore, concord and santa rosa. the usual warmer spots close to 90 degrees. and 57 degrees. so half moon bay, you're cooling down even more as we get through our afternoon shows here. so we're relatively quiet you see some activity and the parts of the sierra there and we're by las vegas. but we have that ridge of high pressure that has been warming us up. that will be a weakening this weekend. with that. we have this typical warmer months set up where we start off cloudy, you know, with the marine layer and then we definitely clear out for inland communities of plenty of sunshine inland. and we do have some winds in the forecast. so we are breezy, but we will notice a change here because we have that offshore wind going on in the north bay and then we have the sea breeze back. so that cool ocean air will be cooling things down by the coast and then offshore wind coming from the land warming us that in our inland communities. so toninht we'll see a cooler

this afternoon, it's no secret that rents in the bay area is not cheap. but there's a new study reeling exactly how pricey living here can be. so according to the zillow study, which looked at april rentals, you need to make almost $133,000 per year in san jose. in order to rent comfortably, making it the most expensive city in the study in san jose, the average household spends a quarter of its income on rent. san francisco came in at

number 4 and the most expensive side. according to the report. you need to make $121,000 a year to rent comfortably in the city. bart's future might depend on the tax measure that set to be on the ballot in 2026, according to bart, new u.s. budget deficit numbers, the transit agency will be facing a 35 million dollar deficit by 2026. and if passed, this tax measure would bring in more than a billion dollars every year for bart. but if it fails, dart is warning it will have to make some drastic cuts. >> as jennifer, just bart close at 09:00pm and certain stations were closed and no, no trains at all on the weekend. those are the types of things that our reality. i'm not any time soon. we've got 2 years of that. we know that we have funding, but then we need to focus on that ballot measure. >> bart says the deficit is partially due to declining ridership. also increased

gunpoint to kron four's. sara stinson spoke with neighbors and has the story. >> home security camera captures the terrifying moment. a mail carrier in dublin was robbed at gunpoint. this happened monday afternoon around 4.30, on a bespoke court video shows 2 masked men wearing all black approached the male woman. one point a gun at her dublin. police say the men demanded the carriers mailbox key and phone. you can see her go to the usps truck to get her phone and handed over. then the 2 men run off. thankfully, the male woman was not physically injured. neighbors called 9-1-1 and police arrived shortly after to investigate. i went down to cul-de-sac. >> probably within 10 or 15 minutes after happen after seeing police in his neighborhood, mike grant, but down to check it out. once he learned about the robbery, grant went to check his high-quality security camera system to see if it captured

work to emotionally recover. you know, we're always out talking to her and stuff like that. so she's kind of like family. >> so i stopped by just to make sure she was ok, i let her know that we're. >> we're all thinking about the postal service is offering $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. i'm sara stinson reporting in dublin kron. news. >> a bounty hunter has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting. newark police is confirming that 49 year-old agent charles price of forest hill and a bail bond agent. we're trying to find this man when the altercation broke out at during the exchange of gunfire, the man was shot and he died at the hospital and he's been identified as 42 year-old bay area resident richard turner. police say in march turner did not appear in court while felony weapons charges were pending, which made him a fugitive. now the bounty hunter has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. a santa

rosa man convicted of murder was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. one antonio martinez confessed to killing a man in the windsor area in june of 2022. and after killing the victim, martinez attempted to pose as a kidnapper and extort the victim's girlfriend for more than $100,000. he was eventually arrested and confessed leading investigators to the body. the district attorney's office says the actions for martinez warranted a potential life sentence and they're pleased with the judge's verdict. closing arguments have now wrapped up in the attempted murder case of the man accused of intentionally driving his car off of a 300 foot cliff with his family inside this unique case hinges on the judge's decision of what kind of mental health crisis don't rush to tell us suffering from when he drove off of highway one in january of last year, his wife and 2 kids were in the car when it went over. double slide in san mateo county. they all survived. but tell us wife says she does not

newsom unveiling his updated state budget today. it's coming with a projected multi-billion dollar deficit and he knows. >> that there will have to be some very difficult decisions to be made in order to close the gap. our capitol correspondent eytan wallace has details on how the governor plans to balance the budget. >> well, here it is. all 45 pages. the governor provided for his budget to budget. the governor says will protect key

programs. one he acknowledges comes with its challenges. this is a this is a sizable deficit. verner gavin newsom. they're not mincing words about his proposed budget for the coming fiscal year budget that per newsom comes with a projected 27.6 billion dollar deficit. that figure is much more optimistic than that of the non-partisan legislative analyst's office or who earlier this year projected the state faces a 73 billion dollar deficit. newsom believes that projection was way off because he anticipates the state will take in more tax revenues than previously anticipated to balance the budget. newsom says he's taking action on several fronts, including the withdrawal of more than 12 billion dollars from the state's reserves over the next 2 years. he's also proposing more than 18 billion dollars reductions for programs on broadband access, water, storage and state and local public health departments. he also plans to save hundreds of millions of dollars in what he describes as belt tightening. that includes a proposal to freeze the filling of about

10,000 vacant state. jobs what i want to know. >> but the alternative, the you know, we can we can eliminate our expansion health care. we can eliminate wages. we can limit. we do furloughs into layoffs. we can do a lot of things i want to do those things. as for whether he plans to raise taxes. the governor flatly said no on spending priorities. newsom said homelessness, climate and education are at the top of his list. in fact, he says the state is on pace to spend more than $23,000 per student. we intend to bring you reaction from republican lawmakers. want see a little bit later on. in the meantime, now it's up to the legislature to review this budget impasse, a fully balanced budget by june 15th. >> lawmakers fail to do so, they will not be paid reporting at the state capitol. a tom wallace kron. 4 news. >> the golden state is partnering with 5 different companies to create a generative ai tool that could improve public services. governor newsom says he hopes that this tech could reduce customer wait times at state

there are lots of opportunities to get outside and enjoy all this nice weather. the stern grove music festival today revealed its lineup for 2024, there's really something on there for everyone. so there's tegan and sara lucinda williams, alex g and the san francisco symphony of just some of the acts who will play in the eucalyptus trees at the stern recreational grove. the best part all the shows are free. they will take place on sunday afternoons june through august. this is the 87th stern grove music festival. tickets are on a first come first serve basis on the festival's website and this years past are any indication they do go pretty fast. all right. some more opportunities now to see some live music the summer at local county fairs. so let's go over. some of them now will start with alameda county. that fair begins on june 14th in pleasanton kicking off that concert series will be valais has very own e 40. that's on
